PositionPaperDelegate:XuanLuoSchool:CivilAviationUniversityOfChinaCountry:KoreaCommittee:UnitedNationsEnvironmentProgrammeTopic:EnergySavingandCarbonEmissionReductionSincethetwentiethcentury，womenhavemadeindefatigableefforttofightfortheirrights.Oneoftheresultfromthestruggle,womencometohavegenderEqualityinpoliticalparticipation.PakistanisaMuslimcountry,thismeansthatthewomenherehavemorestrictrulestoobey,aremorelimited.AccordingtoIslamicteachings,womenaremadewithman'sribs,sotheyaredoomedtobetheaffiliateofmen.Muslimgirlsandboysstudyatcompletelydifferentschools,girlsmainlyfocusonfthecultivationofhousewife,unlikeboyslearnmoresocialandnaturalsciencecontent.AndPakistanstilladmitsPolygamy,meansmencanhavemorethanonewife.Ifawomanmarriesaman,shecan’tgetdivorcedormarryothers,evenifhishusbanddies.Andmostmarriagesarearrangedbytheirparents.InPakistan,familyviolenceisverycommon;somehusbandsevenkilledtheirwifewith”maintainfamilyhonor”asanexcuse.Hundredsofwomenarekilledinlynchingeveryyear.Andwomenhavelessfreedomintheirdailylife.Ifwecan’tchangethesituationthatWomen’sStatusisbelowmen’s,wecan’tdiscussthe“genderEqualityinpoliticalparticipation”.SowehavealongwaytofightforgenderEquality.However,Pakistantakeseffectivestepstochangethesituation.Nowadays,thestatusesofwomengraduallyimprove.CareerwomenarechangingPakistanthrougheducation.SchoolswhichUrbangroupfoundedisallaroundourcountry.Byfoundingschool,wehavesuccessfullysolvedthewomeneliteemploymentproblem.80%ofthestaffsarewomen,90%ofteachersarewomen.Besidesengaginginprofessionalwork,theseprofessionalwomenalsoplaytheroleofwifeandmother.Today,Pakistan'sfemalediplomats,femalepressandfemaleprofessionalworkersaregettingmoreandmore,thisshowstheprogressofthesociety.Becauseoftheimpactofglobalization,moreandmorePakistaniwomenawareoftheirroleinsociety.AndPakistanisalsogettoknowwomen’svaluetonationaldevelopmentandsocialprogressofthecontributionandpotentialrole.On15November2006,TheWomen'sProtectionBill(CriminalLawsAmendment)waspassedbytheNationalAssemblyofPakistan.ItisanattempttoamendtheheavilycriticizedHudoodOrdinancelawswhichgovernthepunishmentforrapeandadulteryinPakistan.AndPakistanisfocusingonreformtobuildtheequalitybetweenmenandwomen.Also,moreandmorewomentakepartinpoliticalparticipation.Now,menandwomenenjoytherightinpolitics,evencantakepartinparticipateinparliamentaryelection.Wehavemanyfemalepoliticians,suchasBenazirBhutto,whowastwiceasPakistaniprimeminister,andmanyfemaleministers.PakistanwillcontinuetoreformtofightforgenderEquality.AndwehopeotherMuslimcountriestorespectwomen’srightaswell.Wearelookingforwardtoabetterdayforwomen.
