TheimplicationsofderegulationliberalizationonthelogisticsserviceindustryinLaoPDRThisstudyanalysesthedevelopmentoftheLaofreightlogisticssectorwithaspecialfocusonfactorsinfluencingfreightlogisticsservicesefficiencyaftertheprocessesofliberalizationandderegulationoftheeconomy.Basedonempiricaldata,thestudyfocusesontwomaindimensionsoftheLaofreightlogisticssector:(i)thedevelopmentofaprivatefreightlogisticssectorsincetheformulationoftheNewEconomicMechanism(NEM)thatprogressivelyopenedtheLaoeconomytotheworld;(ii)theLaofreightlogisticssector'sawarenessofopportunitiesandchallengesarisingfromLaoPDR'sparticipationinASEAN,GMSandhopefullytheWTOinthenearfuture.StrategicchoiceforIstanbul:Adomesticorinternationalorientationforlogistics?ThegeographicallocationofTurkeyingeneral,andIstanbulinparticular,inawiderregionencompassingtheBlackSea,Balkans,CaucasusandMiddleEastprovidesanabsoluteadvantageforthecitytobecomeanimportantinternationallogisticsnode.RecentresearchhasalsoidentifiedTurkeyasthefifthlargestlogisticsmarketintheworld.Therefore,promotingIstanbulasalogisticscenterofinternationalimportancehasbeenhighontheagendaoftheTurkishcentralgovernment,cityauthorities,andinterestgroupsinrecentyears.Toachievethisaim,localandcentralgovernmentshavebeensponsoringnewinfrastructuralprojectstostrengthenthepositionofthecityasaworld-classlogisticscenter.However,otherresearchhaspointedtoseriousproblemsresultingfromlegislativeshortcomings,lackofcoordinationamongpublicbodies,mistakesinimplementation,andinsufficienciesininfrastructureandhumancapital.ThisisbasedonaresearchprojectinvolvinglogisticsfirmsinIstanbuldesignedtoinvestigatethestrengthsandweaknessesofIstanbulinitsquesttobecomeasalogisticscenterservingawiderregionbeyondTurkey.Theresultsoftheinterviewsandsurveyhaveshownthattoday,logisticsactivityintheMarmararegion(andIstanbulinparticular)ismainlytheresultofeconomicactivitiestakingplaceinanationalcontext,ratherthantheresultofentrepôtorlogisticsnodeoperationsataregionalorgloballevel.Inthepromotionalliteratureofpublicauthorities,nevertheless,’linkswithTurkicrepublics’and’abridgebetweenEuropeandAsia’arerepeatedlyreferredto,despitetheirdiminishingrelevancetotheoperationalrequirementsofTurkishlogisticscompanies.Bureaucraticandlegislativeimplementationdeficiencies,andconsequenttransportshortcomingsseemtooccupyamoreconcreteandhigherplaceontheiragendaforthegrowthoflogisticsserviceprovision.Policyformationneedstorecognizethisorderingofprioritiesinordertointegrateeconomicandurbanplanningmoreeffectively.Supplychainintegrationwiththird-partylogisticsprovidersThisstudyusedthesupportofextanttheorytoproposethattherearesignificantdifferencesintheposturesoffirmsthatincludelogisticsprovidersintheirsupplychainmanagementeffortsversusthosethatdonot.Further,weidentifiedfoursupplychainmanagementconstructsasbeingimportantfactorsinpredictingfirmperformance,andthencomparedtheirlevelsofperceivedimportanceofthesefactorsacrossthetwogroupsoffirms.Ouranalysissupportsthepremisethatinformationintegration,3PL---本文来源于网络,仅供参考,勿照抄,如有侵权请联系删除---selectioncriteria,performanceevaluation,andrelationshipbuildingarepositivelycorrelatedwithfirmperformance.Also,ourresultsshowthatfirmsthatinclude3PLsintheirsupplychainmanagementeffortsemphasizecertainsupplychainmanagementconstructstoahigherextentcom...
