MarketIntegrationandRegionalEconomicGrowthinChina51015202530354045HongTao,MaTao*(SchoolofManagementHarbinInstituteofTechonology)Abstract:Inthispaper,weexploreβ-convergenceofregionaleconomicgrowthinpaneldatamodelswitheconomicdependence.Usingmethodsofspatialautocorrelationandspatialerror,besidesreplacethespatialweightmatrixwithinter-regionallinkages,weestimatetherelationofmarketintegrationandregionaleconomicgrowthfrom1997-2011.Baseonthis,weestablishthreefacts:Theyearof2004isabreakpointfrom1997-2011,theprocessofmarketintegration,thesituationofregionaleconomicgrowthandmutualeffectsofthemallchangednoticeablysincethen;Inphase1,thereexistsatrendofdivergence,andthehigheristhelevelofmarketintegration,thelargeristhedisparityofregionaleconomy;Inphase2,convergenceeffectarouseandthelevelofmarketintegrationhasanegativecorrelationwithregionaleconomicdiscrepancy.Wealsoconfirmthatthedynamicrelationshipofmarketintegrationandregionaleconomicgrowthisdeterminedbymarketpowermainly.Keywords:RegionalEconomics;MarketIntegration;RegionalEconomicGrowth;SpatialEconometrics0IntroductionChinahasbeenexperiencingthedrasticeconomicgrowthoverthepastthreedecades.AccordingtoSongetal.(2011),theannualgrowthrateofrealGDPpercapitaisnearly9%from1992-2004[1].Atthemeantime,whatfactorsledtosuchgreatachievementshasbeenahottopicthroughthepastthirtyyears.Amongwhich,institutionalreforms(Woo,1999[2];Qian,2003[3]),rapidaccumulationofcapital(ChowandLi,2002[4];WangandYao,2003[5]),theinflowofforeigndirectinvestment(Baietal.,2010[6]),humancapital(LiandHuang,2009[7])andsubstantialimprovementintotalfactorproductivity(BosworthandCollins,2008[8];PerkinsandRawski,2008[9])hasbeenextensivelystudied.However,thesestudiesassumeallregionsinChinaareindependent,soregionaleconomicgrowthisonlydeterminedbytheirowncharacteristics.Interactionbetweenregionshadbeenignoredforalongtime.Recently,someresearcherspointedoutthatinter-regionalrelationshiphasplayedanimportantroleintheprocessofChineseeconomicgrowth.Usingexploratoryspatialdataanalysis,Ying(2000)confirmedtheeffectofspatialspilloversfromcoretoperipheryregions,thatisfromGuangdongtoitsadjacentprovincesinhissample[10].Brunetal.(2002)[11],ZhangandFelmingham(2002)[12]alsodocumentedtheexistenceofpositiveinfluencesthatcoastalregionsexertoninlandregions.Jeon(2007)testedKaldorianhypothesis,theyfoundweakspatialdependenceofGRPamongregionsusingprovincialdata[13].Baietal.(2012)provedthatanincreaseof10%inthemarketpotentialincreasedthegrowthrateofregionalGDPpercapitaby3-5%basedonaspatialerrormodel.Nevertheless[14],someliteraturesprovideddifferentproof.Forexample,Ying(2003)foundspatialautocorrelationofinter-regionaloutputtobenegativeusingprovincialdatafrom1978-1998,whichisanimportantreasonforpolarizingprocessinregionaleconomies[15].Linetal.(2006)alsofoundrelativelowerdispersionintheeconomicdevelopmentprocessofregionsbycontrollingforspatialautocorrelation[16].Asweallknow,regionaltradeisanimportantinter-regionalrelationshipandaffectsregionaleconomicgrowthsignificantly.However,localgovernmentsinChinaadoptedextremelydifferent---本文来源于网络，仅供参考，勿照抄，如有侵权请联系删除---policieswhentheydealtwithdomesticmarketintegrationandinternationalmarketintegration,Briefauthorintroduction:HongTao（1977-），Male，AssociateProfessor.ResearchArea:UrbanEconomics.hongtao@hit.edu-1----本文...
